To maintain the highest availability of Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), all DHCP users MUST release their DHCP address manually BEFORE disconnecting from the network.
 
How to Release your DHCP? Simply Turn off your computer, the DHCP will be released.
 
 
If you need to keep your computer on
 
For Windows 95,
NT, 2000 or XP
Click START, and then RUN.
In the RUN window, type CMD and click OK.
In the command window that appears, type IPCONFIG /RELEASE, then press the ENTER key.
 
For Windows 98
Click START, then RUN.
In the RUN window, type WINIPCFG then click OK.
In the window that appears, click the button labeled RELEASE ALL.
 
For Linux Use the command: pump -r
